COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What to consider before hiring an interior designer...

  • Know or have an idea of your total Investment.

  • Know Your Timeline. Be realistic that it will probably take longer than anticipated.

  • Collect Inspiration.

  • Understand Which Services You Need. Full or Partial

  • Determine Your Must-Have vs Good-to-Have.

How does the process work?

First, you can go on our website, click on ‘Hire Us’ and fill out the form to let us know your expectations and budget. If you don’t know your budget right away, that is OK. Then, we set up a time to visit the space, and get an idea of your style. This will require a fee of $150. Next, we will set up a good time to come to the space and measure walls, doors, windows, ceiling height, make note of any special conditions and take pictures. Next, is the design process - we break this out into phases to make the project run smoothly for the client and the contractor. We take a few weeks (depending on the project size) to create a mood board, a floor plan to scale, source items, and come up with the overall design concept. Then, we set up a meeting to present the design. This is your opportunity to give your feedback so that we can make any finalizations to the design before moving on to the next phase. We will send you the presentation afterwords so you can think about it, make comments and ensure we are on the same page. Once the plan is finalized, the contractor comes in to quote the project and provide a projected start date. We collaborate and communicate with the contractor throughout the project to ensure everything goes to plan. After the construction phase is completed, comes the last step, which is our favorite. We bring the store to you! We decorate your space, and show you the finished product! Remember our door is always open if you have any questions or comments throughout the process.

When is the best time to call an interior designer?

Right away, you can never call too soon! Floor planning, layout, and exteriors are just as important for us to be involved in. We can help with overall flow and maximize spacial planning with interior furnishings in mind. We can also help with budget planning to get the most out of the project. We would recommend calling for a consultation a few months prior to the contractors potential start date.

Who do you call first - an interior designer or a contractor?

Call an interior designer first, finalize all your plans and finishes and then get quotes from a contractor. This way the entire budget and plan will be in place and this process can run smoothly.

How do you charge?

Based on the scope of work we charge a design fee. Within that fee, it covers our time to come up with an overall design. An hourly fee may be charged over a design fee, based on the type of project.
